For GMO-free food in the future too

Rapunzel Naturkost has been advocating GMO-free agriculture with educational work and political campaigns for many years. The RAPUNZEL One World Organic Foundation has taken up this commitment.

With the FOODprint initiative, Rapunzel Naturkost and many cooperation partners demanded that genome editing methods be officially regulated.

As early as 2007, Rapunzel Naturkost became active with the campaign GENFREI GEHEN – a march for a GMO-free world. In 2017, Rapunzel launched the FOODprint initiative with many cooperation partners; together they called on politicians to officially regulate genome editing methods with a position paper. At the Genetic Engineering Forum 2018, experts from science, politics, agriculture and associations informed and discussed about genome editing at Rapunzel Naturkost. The organic company is currently promoting the IFOAM campaign KEEPING GMOs OUT OF ORGANIC in Europe.
Our support

The RAPUNZEL One World Organic Foundation has taken up this commitment. This is important because new genetic engineering methods such as CRISPR/Cas raise new questions – and a reliable, legal regulation on freedom from genetic engineering is of elementary importance for organic farmers. In concrete terms, the Foundation will continue to support the work of IFOAM EU in the future, and will do so to a greater extent. IFOAM Organics Europe is the European umbrella organisation for organic agriculture.
