Mission statement
The RAPUNZEL One World Organic Foundation is committed to fostering organic agriculture, socio-cultural engagement and health promotion in Germany and worldwide. Our vision is a sustainable world in which the well-being of people, plants, animals and the environment are accorded equal attention.
The RAPUNZEL One World Organic Foundation is politically and ideologically independent. We are committed to diversity, to understanding between different peoples and cultures, and a democratic, participatory strengthening of civil society. We firmly reject extremist, racist, anti-constitutional and xenophobic endeavours.
Purpose of the foundation
We fulfil our foundation objectives in particular through the following measures at national and international level:- the promotion of nature conservation and landscape management within the meaning of the Federal Nature Conservation Act and the nature conservation laws of the federal states of Germany as well as environmental protection
- the promotion of animal breeding and plant breeding
- the promotion of consumer advice and consumer protection
- the promotion of international sentiment, tolerance in all areas of culture and international understanding
- the promotion of education, popular and vocational training
- the selfless support of persons who are dependent on the help of others due to their physical, mental or emotional condition
Our measures
We fulfil our foundation purpose in particular through the following measures at national and international level:- national and international organic farming and organic seed breeding
- education and information about organic farming and sustainable and ecological behaviour
- sustainable eco-social projects at home and abroad (with a particular focus on the countries of the Global South)
- schools, orphanages, social rehabilitation and training projects for children and young people in need
- positive globalization that benefits people
- understanding between people from different nations and cultures
- health-promoting activities and preventive measures
- employees of Rapunzel Naturkost and affiliates who are in need through no fault of their own
Background
The RAPUNZEL One World Organic Foundation is an initiative of Rapunzel Naturkost GmbH & Co. KG.
The organic pioneer Rapunzel Naturkost was founded in 1974. Its idea: to contribute to the promotion and dissemination of organic agriculture through the contract cultivation of raw materials, the processing of wholesome food and the distribution of the same. At the same time, and to an equal measure, the processed and distributed food should contribute to the promotion and preservation of all people’s health. From this basic attitude, Rapunzel Naturkost has derived a comprehensive social and societal responsibility.
The foundation initiator, Joseph Wilhelm, and the other founders share the awareness that “All is One”; and that people and nations in this world can only be well in the long run if everyone is doing well. And, as such, it endeavours to ensure that people, animals and the environment do not suffer from the effects of our actions. Based on this stance, the founders established the RAPUNZEL One World Organic Foundation in 2022. It picks up on earlier charitable initiatives of Rapunzel Naturkost, such as the HAND IN HAND Fund (1998-2021) or the One World Award (since 2008).
The sustainable development goals of the United Nations
The RAPUNZEL One World Organic Foundation is inspired by the vision and values of Rapunzel Naturkost, which the organic pioneer has been living for half a century. In line with this, the foundation is guided in its objectives and actions by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
Based on the one-world concept, we support this guideline for ecological, social and economic sustainability created by the global community.
It is our mission statement to join this global agenda beyond the goals we have pursued at Rapunzel since 1974.
With our measures, we aim to address all 17 Sustainable Development Goals. At the same time, the RAPUNZEL One World Organic Foundation sets clear priorities.

Our basic conviction is that organic farming offers exemplary solutions for sustainable, regenerative and climate-resilient agriculture. It protects soils, forests, ecosystems and the diversity of species (Goals 13 “Climate action” and 15 “Life on land”) and at the same time improves food security (Goal 2 “Zero hunger”).
In conjunction with educational measures, particularly with regard to gender equality (Goal 4 “Quality education”), our funding and projects contribute to a decent, peaceful and healthy life for all people worldwide (Goals 1 “No poverty” and 3 “Good health and well-being”).
